You Must Marvel

Think, that mankind has touched the moon,
Painted a chapel ceiling meticulously,
Filled giants halls with music from a hundred fingers,
Cut marble in Italy for a kitchen in Dayton, Ohio,
Seen the cosmos of billions of years ago,
Erected cities for tens of millions,
Pushed the microchip to the tiniest of sizes,
Made across the world across the street, and
Marked its trails with shiny highway signs.

While the great apes, 98% like us,
Use sticks to pull ants from a hole.
And you must marvel, and shake your head,
At the mind and thumb of humans,
Or attribute it to the hand of a God.

I have been writing poetry my whole life but this is the first time I have been published (not counting my high school literary magazine).  Although an English major in college, I ended up a lawyer. I hope to publish more poetry in the future.  I live in Oakton Virginia with my wife and three sons.
