This is our biggest issue of Scapegoat so far. We are really proud of the writers presented on these pages.  They are a diverse and talented group with a myriad of stories to tell. There are several styles and as always, we strive to bring you rare and awe-inspiring work. Winter can be a time of doldrums—take time with this issue and let it help bring a moment of happiness to your day.

Here’s a poem that describes winter as I picture it.

January

Again I reply to the triple winds
running chromatic fifths of derision
outside my window:
Play louder.
You will not succeed. I am
bound more to my sentences
the more you batter at me
to follow you.
And the wind,
as before, fingers perfectly
its derisive music.
